Kumbh Mela Sadhu Portraits 1998

Unofficially officially I became the Portrait Photographer of the major Guru Sadhus at the 1998 Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, India .The film all developed on location so that I could give each of the Sadhus their pictures later that day.

Kumbh Mela Sadhu Portraits 2007




This is my photograph of Bupendar Giri's Guru. He has passed away now RIP.
At the 2007 Kumbh Mela Festival , with an attendance that clocks in at 70,000,000, in that sea of camping sadhus..... I found Bupender Giri. See image below of young sadhu. This photograph of the Guru, taken back in Hardware in 1998s Kumbh Mela Festival. It seemed a bit of a miracle to have found a photograph of mine published at a Kumbh Mela as a memorial Banner.

    Hi Algis

    This is an impressive body of work you have here. I am going to attend to the 2010's Kumbh Mela and I've being searching for Kumbh Mela Portraits for the longest time and in my opinion this is the best set of images of all web. Congratulations!!!
    Is it as easy as it appears in your blog to photograph the sadhus?
